CUSTOM HOME
STUDIO CITY, CA
This 6000 square foot custom home was originally 5000 square feet and built in 1963. The entire house was gutted and re-imagined as a modern open plan.
The idea was to create an open plan where shared spaces flow together, both inside and outside. The lower level was opened as an expansive great room, with large multi-panel doors opening to the rear pool yard, and side courtyard, effectively creating an exterior room. Bedrooms were added to the upper floor, the lower floor expanded, and the entry area opened up. A new floating wood stair was constructed, and frameless glass railing installed throughout. An existing large wood burning fireplace was retained, finished with smooth stucco., and opened on both sides between the living area and the dining room.

The existing master bathroom above the garage was turned 45 degrees. This geometry was retained as we enjoyed the relief from the otherwise rectilinear geometry.
